100 Words: Words Matter
We
are all the sum total of our experience and are all prejudiced by those
experiences. I live in Pensacola Florida. There are minor league teams in town.
When I’m at Ice Flyer’s game, the sign I hold does not say Go SPHL. When I’m at
a Blue Wahoo’s game, my sign doesn’t say Go MILB. It should be a given that ALL
LIVES MATTER, but if someone kills a trans person, a sign saying TRANS LIVES
MATTER, just makes sense. If a black person is killed, a sign saying BLACK
LIVES MATTER, just makes sense. It doesn’t diminish all.
100 Words: Protests
We are all the sum total of our experience and are all
prejudiced by those experiences. I was born in the 60’s. Power to the people, hippies,
women’s liberation, Watergate, etc. I started as a big government Liberal and
have become more conservative as I grew older. My trust in and support for government
has slowly decreased. I now support smaller government and welcome peaceful
protests. My town has been able to have peaceful protests without riots or
looting. If outside forces are promoting or encouraging the riots, please don’t
succumb. Riots and looting have no place in peaceful protests.

100 Words: Cops
We are all the sum total of our experience and are all
prejudiced by those experiences. As a child, I was taught that the policeman is
your friend. If I was lost or felt threatened, I would look for an officer.
No-one I knew ever had a bad experience with the police. I realize my
experience may not be yours. I believe most officers are there to protect and
serve. The few who are not, are the exception, not the rule. An officer who abuses
their power should face consequences and those consequences should follow them.
I support good cops.

100 Words: Prejudice
We
are all the sum total of our experience and are all prejudiced by those
experiences. I was taught that all people are equal, have the same opportunity,
and should be treated the same. Conversely, I didn’t have a black classmate
until I was in 7th grade and my family moved when the neighborhood “went
black.” I hope my prejudices are colored by what I was taught and not some of
my experiences. I believe all people should be treated equally in equal
situations. Black, white, gay, straight, trans, civilian, military, cop, ditch
digger, or bank president, treated the same.
