100 Words: Prejudice

We are all the sum total of our experience and are all prejudiced by those experiences. I was taught that all people are equal, have the same opportunity, and should be treated the same. Conversely, I didn’t have a black classmate until I was in 7th grade and my family moved when the neighborhood “went black.” I hope my prejudices are colored by what I was taught and not some of my experiences. I believe all people should be treated equally in equal situations. Black, white, gay, straight, trans, civilian, military, cop, ditch digger, or bank president, treated the same.
